A dew-covered spider web,
Bejeweled and glistening
In the morning sun -
Your soul is both strong and fragile;
Each strand the cable of a bridge
Bearing the weight of other's troubles;
Strong and sure.
Yet delicate is the gossamer web
Easily destroyed by those blinded
To all concerns except their own.
They pass by with no knowledge
Of the treasure that they miss
Sitting, quiet and unassuming, as you do.
But I stop,
Eyes caught by the misty stars
Shining from your soul;
The sunrise glinting on the dew.
I, captured by the treasure I have found.
Gazing, wanting to memorize how each
Strand of your being comes together
To make the person I see
When I look into your eyes.
