Overdue Valentine I've known you my whole life From my earliest memories You've always been there Through the laughter and tears When I was happy or scared Or I thought I was alone You never were gone I know there have been times When you haven't been proud Of the things that I've done And even some moments When I've made you quite mad Yet through it all You've never once strayed You were the one To fill me with strength Or stay with me through the dark To show me the dawn, Assure me that the world Did indeed go on And the sun would continue to rise Even though another had broken my heart In those special moments When the extraordinary happened It was always you Who experienced it with me And on this Valentine's Day I finally saw the truth, Knew there was one I neglected All of these years One who I never remembered One who has always loved me So this year will you be My dearest, mose treasured Valentine? For I truly love you With all of my heart I waited in silence To get the hoped for answer And then I saw the bright, beaming smile Looking back from the reflection Of myself in the mirror.
