Halloween Masks
With a name like Hawke, do you really think
I wouldn't want a feathered mask?  I finally
got around to making one this year, and it was
rather fun and easy.

No, I did not attach each feather individually.
I'd be in a padded cell by now if I attempted
that.  The beak is brown leather attached to a
mask form.  The feathers are five pre-made
feather pads...a pad of pheasant feathers on
each cheek and three pheasant hackle pads
across the forehead.

It was great getting so many comments and
compliments on it at the dance.  Plus it was a
blast having people I have met in the past few
weeks not recognise me unless the mask was
off.  Only one person I knew realized who I
was with my face covered.  I suspect my
necklace and rings helped her out.
Here you can see a little bit of the hook on the
beak part.  It gives the mask a nice effect, but I
learned that it's really hard to drink anything in
a bottle.  It's a good thing that I'm terribly shy,
even if I wanted to kiss someone in this mask,
the beak would make it impossible!
This is the other type of mask that I've been
wanting for a while....a Green Man mask.  I
made it by placing layers of silk grape leaves
onto a mask form.  Some of the leaves have
silvering and glitter on them.  I attempted to
make the leaves show the features of a face,
such as dark eyebrows and small silver leaves
under the eyes as possible tears.
